At Strathfield Medical Centre, patients are generally required to book an appointment in order to obtain a referral from one of our general practitioners. This allows our doctors to properly assess your condition, understand your healthcare requirements, and decide on the most appropriate specialist or service for your needs.
During your consultation, please ensure you clearly explain any concerns or reasons for requesting a referral. Your doctor will review your medical history, evaluate your current symptoms, and consider any necessary investigations before recommending the best course of action.
If you feel you require a referral but do not yet have an appointment, please contact our clinic on 02 9995 7200 to arrange a visit with one of our experienced doctors. Our reception team will be happy to help you find a suitable time.
For an urgent referral to be considered, the following criteria must be met:
-
You must be a regular patient of the practice
-
You must have attended a face-to-face consultation with one of our doctors within the past 3 months
-
You must have previously discussed the need for the referral with your doctor, or have been referred to the same specialist by our practice before
Please note:
-
Referrals cannot be backdated, so we kindly ask that you do not request this
-
The referring doctor has full discretion and may decline to issue a referral without providing a reason
We do not provide referrals or prescriptions via online or telephone requests.
Our priority is to deliver thorough and personalised care, and booking an appointment helps ensure your healthcare needs are properly addressed.
Thank you for choosing Strathfield Medical Centre. We are committed to supporting your health and wellbeing and look forward to assisting you.
